Why this fabric
Cargo pants and work trousers fail at the same places: knees, pocket corners and seams that take daily strain. CVC ripstop is built for that. The cotton-rich face keeps the hand comfortable and breathable, while a grid of heavier plied yarns stops a small snag from running into a tear. Add a T400 stretch weft and the garment moves with the wearer instead of pulling at the seams.
The catch is that ripstop strength is not automatic. Two CVC ripstops with the same yarn count can test far apart, because yarn twist, rib-yarn ply, warp density, pre-shrinking and finishing chemistry all move the result. We have worked through exactly this on CVC ripstop programs: matching a buyer’s tensile and tear targets came down to raising warp density, upgrading the rib yarn and adjusting the finishing route, not to changing the fiber. That is the same trade-off we explain in what silently weakens fabric strength during finishing.
So we treat strength as a specification, not a hope. Tell us your tensile and tear targets and the test methods your lab uses (we work to ISO 13934-1 strip tensile and ISO 13937-1 Elmendorf tear), and we set construction and finishing to meet them, then confirm on the first dye lot before bulk. Mercerizing and PFC-free DWR are available on the same base. For a plain twill alternative, see our T/C workwear twill.
