Why this fabric
A chef jacket works harder than most uniforms. It sits next to the skin in a hot kitchen, takes splashes of oil and sauce, and goes through hot washes far more often than office wear. The fabric decides whether the jacket stays comfortable, white and true to size after months of that, or turns grey, shrinks and loses its shape.
That is why most premium chef wear is built on cotton. 100% cotton breathes and absorbs sweat in a way polyester cannot, and a combed-yarn twill or poplin gives a clean, dense surface that presents well in an open kitchen. For high-volume hospitality programs where durability and easy care matter more than feel, a CVC or T/C blend holds its color and shape through industrial laundering at a lower cost.
The finishing is where a uniform fabric earns its keep. We mercerize for luster and better dye uptake, sanforize to control shrinkage, and add soil-release so food stains wash out instead of setting. Whites are dyed to an optical white, and we can run colorfastness and shrinkage checks against your laundering routine per order. Tell us the garment, the wash conditions and the feel you want, and we will propose a construction and send swatches. Premium long-staple cotton is available on request.
